I’m looking for a helper

I’m looking for a helper (this is a huge scary leap for me) and I wonder if you know anybody that might be interested in working with me. The ideal person probably has  their own little enterprise or those sorts of aspirations – the experience here could help with that, they have a flexible schedule, are located close to Brooklyn, NY ( I’m in Park Slope) and  they wouldn’t mind working with me in my very small but lovely place that  can get extra cramped and chaotic when big wholesale orders are moving through. Most importantly of all they have very, very clever hands – sewing experience would be wonderful but I’m willing to teach that to some one who just has a magic touch. The hours would be small and sporadic at first with the goal of moving to one day a week and on from there. The pay would also be small to begin but with room to grow if things work out.
If you know someone who might be interested please share this with them. If you’re interested yourself please message me here or email me at ann@annwoodhandmade.com with studio help as the subject line.

  • oh, this sounds like a dream, but for me the commute across the atlantic is too much… good luck picking from among all the applicants you will be getting!

p.s. the fiddleheads in the previous post were exquisit and amazing!

  • What a wonderful opportunity! If only I lived in Brooklyn. I hope you find the perfect person. I love your work!

  • Ah, NY! A dream so far away… good luck in finding helping hands!

I hope you find a lovely person for the position, Iowa is also too far away but I will be envious of whoever should get to be your assistant!

Thanks so much everybody ! I’ll let you know how it works out – it’s a big adventure for me.
Bonnie – if only – if only! That would be marvelous.

  • Mon rêve. Je cherche vers chez nous et ne trouve rien, dommage que cela est si loin.

Oh man. Talk about a dream job! It would almost be worth moving to NYC just to do this….and I’d probably do it for free! I do handwork/sewing/paper construction similar to yours and am nearing (a young-ish) retirement from my “regular” job. Although a NY native, I’ve lived in Oregon for the past 30+ yrs. Darn. You have been my inspiration for years. If my situation changes & I re-root in NY, I will definitely let you know. For now, I hope you find someone absolutely wonderful!

  • hey, i live close! but my son lives right there, i will ask him to spread the word….

I just sent you an email via your website, I live in Brooklyn and would love to help in your studio!

  • I am your person but I am too far away. I can make anything. From fabric, paper, you name it. I can sew, paint, invent, and design. Many years of experience. I am also so busy with my own projects that I probably couldn’t do it.
I would still like to be your email friend.I just love your work. You are very talented and evidently think the same way that I do. Out of the box.
Much luck in your future. I am 74, disabled, cancer survivor, but I haven’t given up yet, nor will I until they close the box.
Remember people. You can do anything that you want to do.
