wretched and woebegone
I got a wretched rag of a quilt ( almost for free). I love how absolutely ruined it is.
I planned on using it just for little bits of frayed color on owls and bats and things but there are enough usable bits to make birds as well. This is jasper.
He is the first in a small series of birds called woebegones- birds who have had problems but have persevered.

You are so inspiring - I will be looking at my old fabric in a new way now. Jasper was the name of our old dog and he was a bit raggedy but very cute, too!

I LOVE Jasper…I have made it a life’s adventure taking in abused and neglected dogs and cats and have worked for the past 8 years as a psychiatric nurse serving under-served (homeless, prisoners, refugees) clients in the Charlotte North Carolina area. I hold ALL Jaspers close to my heart and think you have a great concept here. Of course, I think each bird and every little spider you’ve made is great, but I must say Jasper has stolen my heart! Thanks for sharing!

i love him. i have a really hard time actually USING the vintage fabrics i have. i hate cutting into them. it is so strange. i always feel like i will be sorry even though i know that not using it is the crime. sigh.

Yes Natasha, I feel the same. About 6 years ago I bought this awesome 60s trippy fabric. I was so in love with it that I bought all they had (1/2 a bolt!). And even with that amount I couldnt use it. Finally last year i used some to make a tote bag for work, and got so many complments that I started making them for all my friends. It felt almost liberating to use! Now though, I wish I had some to send to ann for birds!!!!
Jasper makes me smile. Cant wait for the birds to go on sale.
