* The Fortitude
Posted on January 1st, 2007 by annwood. Filed under paper mache, ships.
This is the Fortitude. She’ll be auctioned (beginning Wednesday the 3rd) in the benefit organized by Lisa, Stephanie, and Gerrie for the Kim family. There’s lot’s of amazing stuff; you can see a preview here.
Her sails are sheer swiss dot salvaged from an edwardian lawn dress and some other vintage bits including pieces of a beautiful aqua, rose and green paisley dress my mother made for herself in the sixties, it’s one of my all time most favorite fabrics.
Happy New Year !

There are tons of amazing things listed on the auction, but I have to admit that “The Fortitude” is my absolute favorite. It’s like all my favorite fairy tales, a smooth ocean and a big dash of whimsy all rolled together. Truly magical!

Hi, have just come over from the auction and have got to tell you that I am enchanted by your work. Love it all! I’ve been experimenting with papier mache ( birds, dolls) for a while now and am awe struck by your ships.

You are absolutely brillant - it’s beautiful, I love it! And it’s so wonderful that it’s for the Kims’ benefit. Their little Apothecary is just blocks from my house, it breaks my heart whenever I see it. Thank you for doing this.
